I am interested in the phenomenon of neuromodulation which involves the manipulation of the efficacy of a neural circuit depending upon the current physiological state of an individual. I try examine the physiological and behavioral consequences of neuromodulation in the insect nervous system by employing a variety of different techniques to understand the molecular, anatomical and neurophysiological underpinnings of neuromodulation and their consequences for behavior.
