Research Interests
My research uses genetic techniques to investigate cryptic reproductive behaviors (reproductive behaviors that cannot be directly observed) and their role in the evolution of sexual selection. Specifically, I infer patterns of multiple mating, relatedness, selection gradients, and sex-biased population dynamics using molecular tools. For this work I've been using the giant water bug (Abedus herberti), a large predatory Belostomatid species whose reproductive strategy includes sex role reversal and male parental care.
