Research Interests
Publications
The core of my research interests lie in the fields of conservation biology, invasion biology, biogeography, and ecology including aspects of population, community and ecosystem ecology. As such, my research profile is rather diverse. However, my main interest is to understand how and why the species composition of local biotas are changing, and how such changes directly and indirectly affect ecosystem-level processes and properties. Although, I intend to address a variety of ecological and evolutionary questions throughout my carrier, I expect most of my future work to be focused on three broad and interrelated categories of research: above/below-ground linkages, biotic consequences of anthropogenic change, and conservation of biodiversity. As such, I am especially excited about my current research project which aims to: (1) document arthropod diversity in the sky islands of southeastern Arizona, and (2) determine how climate change will affect sky island soil arthropod species and communities, and (3) examine how such changes may influence important ecosystem processes (e.g., litter decomposition and nutrient release).
